Bhopal, April 3 -- The Madhya Pradesh State Assembly Secretariat on Friday issued an order terminating the membership of opposition Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti from the Datia Assembly constituency.
Bharti was convicted on 1 April by an MP/MLA court of New Delhi in a 27-year-old case of bank fraud, and sentenced on 2 April to three years imprisonment and Rs one lakh fine.
Following the court's decision, MP Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar directed the Assembly officials to issue the order terminating Bharti's membership.
