Bhopal, July 23 -- Asserting that the the objective of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is to ensure equal rights and equal justice for all citizens, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav today said that the UCC has received widespread support from members of different religious communities and social groups in the state.

He noted that the UCC would safeguard the rights of citizens from all sections of society.

The Madhya Pradesh State Assembly passed the Madhya Pradesh Uniform Civil Code Bill, 2026 by voice vote on July 21 during the five-day Assembly monsoon session, which began on 20 July, but was declared adjourned sine die on July 22, two days before schedule.
