Prithviraj SinghDehradun, May 21 -- More than 10,000 devotees were rescued by Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) enroute to the Kedarnath shrine on Tuesday night as they were stuck due to road blockage owing to sudden landslide near Sonprayag.

SDRF stated that all the devotees were taken to safe location in the night.

SDRF officials stated that nearly 10,400 devotees were stranded on Sonprayag and Gaurikund highway at Munkatiya area on the Kedarnath Shrine route for it was blocked due to sudden landslide on Tuesday night.

The landslide occurred due to inclement weather and light rains forcing the devotees to remain stranded midway.
