Mohun Bagan prevail on penalties over defending champs NEUFC to set up Kolkata derby final

Shillong, Aug. 20 -- Vishal Kaith once again emerged as Mohun Bagan Super Giant's hero, making two crucial saves in the penalty shootout as the Mariners defeated NorthEast United FC 4-3 on penalties to reach the final of the 135th Durand Cup at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Thursday.

The semi-final ended 0-0 after regulation time, setting up a tense shootout. Mohun Bagan will now face arch-rivals East Bengal FC in a Kolkata Derby final on Sunday.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm in the opening stages, with the wet conditions making it difficult to build sustained passing moves. Long balls and set-pieces became the preferred route to goal.
