Kolkata, March 23 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to headline an extensive election campaign in West Bengal over the coming month, with plans to attend around 14 political events, according to sources within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The campaign is likely to commence in Siliguri in the Darjeeling district and conclude with a large-scale roadshow and rally in Bhabanipur in south Kolkata.

Siliguri is scheduled to vote in the first phase of polling on April 23, while Bhabanipur will go to the polls in the second phase on April 29.

The Bhabanipur contest is drawing significant attention due to the direct contest between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
