Kolkata, April 5 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi came down heavily on the All India Trinamool Congress, accusing it of promoting infiltration, fostering corruption, and undermining the rule of law, as he kicked off his party's campaign for the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 from Ras Mela Maidan.

Addressing a rally in Cooch Behar on Sunday, the Prime Minister described the current administration as a "ruthless regime" and alleged that the state was witnessing "jungleraj," with democratic institutions being weakened.

"Democracy is being suppressed every day in Bengal. The entire country is watching how the Trinamool Congress disrespects the rule of law," he said.
