Srinagar, March 31 -- Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms was recorded across Jammu and Kashmir over the past 24 hours, Meteorological Department said on Tuesday.

Light snowfall was also reported in the upper reaches of the Kashmir Valley due to which Srinagar Leh highway was closed for traffic.

According to MeT data, Baramulla recorded the highest rainfall in the Kashmir with 73.0 mm precipitation, followed by Poonch with 68.5 mm and Rajouri with 52.0 mm during the last 24 hours.

In the Kashmir division, Srinagar recorded 31.6 mm of rainfall, while other stations also received moderate precipitation, including Qazigund 48.6 mm, Pahalgam 36.8 mm, Kupwara 40.8 mm and Kokernag 35.5 mm.
