New Delhi, July 15 -- The Ministry of Defence has initiated the acquisition of indigenous high-speed amphibious combat boats to bolster the Indian Army's operational capabilities in the strategically significant Sir Creek sector along the India-Pakistan border. The specialised platforms are expected to improve mobility, surveillance and anti-infiltration operations in the region's difficult marshland terrain.
According to defence sources, the procurement is being carried out under the 'Buy (Indian)' category, which mandates a minimum indigenous content of 60 per cent.
