Bhubaneswar, Sept. 10 -- The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Thursday alleged that the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026 posed a serious threat to the state's constitutional rights, fiscal autonomy and federal structure.

Addressing a press conference here, Odisha Congress Media Department Chairman Aravinda Das, senior leaders Sibananda Ray and Manisha Das Patnaik said the party had resolved to oppose what it termed the "black law" as it was against the interests of Odisha.

They said the Congress had been holding protests across the state for nearly a month, from the block level to the state capital, and would organise larger programmes in the coming days.
