Bhubaneswar, Sept. 14 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday threatened an economic blockade across Odisha if the amended Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) is not withdrawn, accusing the BJP-led State Government of compromising Odisha's mineral rights and financial interests.
BJD MLA Arun Kumar Sahu said the party would launch the blockade if the Centre and the State Government failed to roll back the amendment, which he alleged had weakened Odisha's control over its mineral resources.
"The amendment must be withdrawn. If it is not, the BJD will impose an economic blockade in Odisha," Sahu warned.
