Aizawl, Sept. 26 -- Mizoram's efforts to combat drug abuse came in for praise from the union government on Saturday, with Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary Sudhansh Pant urging the state to sustain its lead in drug demand reduction and share some of its initiatives with other states.
Pant made the remarks while reviewing the implementation of social welfare schemes of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in Mizoram at the Secretariat in Aizawl.
The union secretary noted that Mizoram had ranked first in the country in drug demand reduction in July and stressed the need for a comprehensive approach covering prevention, awareness, treatment, rehabilitation and supply reduction.
