Aizawl, Feb. 24 -- In a sweeping action against the long-standing practice of "proxy employment" in government offices, the Mizoram government has terminated 29 employees and penalised a total of 37 for engaging substitutes to perform their official duties, the State Legislative Assembly was informed on Tuesday.
Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (DP&AR) Minister K. Sapdanga told the House during Question Hour that while 29 employees were dismissed from service, eight others received minor penalties.
However, even these lesser punishments have been recorded in their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs), potentially affecting their future promotions and career progression.
