Aizawl, April 8 -- Mizoram's most influential civil society organisation has called for intensified efforts to discourage marriages between Mizo women and non-Mizos, alongside demanding stricter action against illegal trade and tighter enforcement of regulatorymechanisms across the state.

The resolution was adopted on Wednesday during the 105th meeting of the Central Co-Ordination Committee (CCC) of the Young Mizo Association, the second-highest decision-making body of the organisation, in Aizawl.

The panel urged civil society leaders to step up awareness campaigns to dissuade Mizo women from marrying outside the community, stating that such marriages could adversely impact the social fabric.
