Aizawl, July 31 -- Mizoram is stepping up efforts to promote intercropping as part of its strategy to improve farm productivity and boost farmers' income, Agriculture & Farmers'Welfare Minister PC Vanlalruata said on Friday.

Addressing a consultation and sensitisation meeting involving officials of the state Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare Department and the Spices Board in Aizawl, the minister said the government is encouraging the cultivation of multiple crops on the same land and will work closely with Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) to expand the practice across the state.
