Aizawl, June 22 -- Mizoram achieved a major milestone in advanced cardiac care after doctors at a private hospital here successfully carried out the state's first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), a sophisticated heart valve replacement procedure that does not require open-heart surgery.
According to sources at Ebenezer Medical Centre on Monday, the landmark procedure was performed successfully at the hospital's Cardiology Centre on Sunday, marking a significant breakthrough in the state's healthcare sector and opening a new chapter in the treatment of complex heart diseases within Mizoram.
