Aizawl, July 4 -- The Mizoram government today appointed Nirupam Chakma as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the 11th Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), setting the stage for the return of an elected administration after the council remained under Governor's Rule for nearly a year.
The appointment, made by the District Council and Minority Affairs Department, follows the decision of the Chakma Democratic Alliance (CDA) Legislature Party, which elected Chakma as its leader during a meeting held on June 23.
