Aizawl, July 8 -- The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram's apex students' organisation, has challenged Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Garima Gupta's assertion that there has been no abnormal increase in the number of voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, claiming its own analysis of the draft electoral roll points to unusually high growth in several Chakma-majority villages in the state's southern region.
Addressing a press conference at its office on Wednesday, MZP leaders said they had carried out a detailed examination of the newly published draft electoral roll and found what they described as significant disparities in the rate of voter growth between Chakma-majority villages and predominantly Mizo villages.
