Aizawl, April 9 -- In a significant operation along the Mizoram-Myanmar border, personnel of the Assam Rifles have intercepted a major consignment of a high-value medicinal plant, locally known as 'anchiri' (Paris polyphylla), thwarting an attempted cross-border smuggling bid near Zorinpui.

According to an official statement issued today, the seizure was made on Wednesday when Assam Rifles personnel on routine check duty detected suspicious movement in the border area. Acting swiftly, the team intercepted suspected smugglers who had allegedly transported the consignment through the Sekul river and were in the process of loading it onto a waiting truck at a junction connecting the river route to a motorable road.
