Aizawl, May 25 -- The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram's apex students' body, on Monday escalated its agitation against the state government's decision to reassign retired officer R. Lalrodingi as Director of Tourism, with members of the student body staging a day-long picket outside the Directorate of Tourism office here.
The protest, spearheaded by activists of the apex student organisation, effectively brought normal functioning of the department to a halt as no employees turned up for duty during the day.
The MZP later suspended the picketing at around 4 pm, but announced that the agitation would resume from Tuesday morning and continue until the government withdraws the order.
