Shillong, April 25 -- A 27-year-old woman who went missing from Assam's main city of Guwahati a day ago has been traced here in Meghalaya today, police said.
The woman, identified as Bhabana Sarma, a resident of Tetelia, was found near the State Bank of India premises at Polo area after bank staff noticed her in a distressed condition early in the morning and alerted the police.
"She (Sarma) was spotted at around 8:45 am this (Saturday) morning in the Polo area and immediately taken for medical examination. The woman is not in a condition to provide a detailed statement," Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, said.
"We have handed her over to the Assam Police in the presence of her family members," he said.
