Srinagar, Aug. 7 -- Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday claimed that he was once again placed under house arrest and prevented from going to the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar to offer the obligatory prayers and deliver the sermon.

In a post on X, Mirwaiz said that, "as usual no reason had been given" by the authorities for restricting his movement.

He, however, said that the timing of the action comes soon after the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) raised a legitimate concern that pork products are being listed for sale on the online delivery platform Blinkit in Kashmir.
