Srinagar, Aug. 17 -- Kashmir's chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was allegedly placed under house arrest on Monday, thereby preventing him from addressing the annual 'Khoje Digar' congregation at the historic shrine of Hazrat Khawaja Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar's old city.

Mirwaiz said that once again he was denied permission to address the tens of thousands of people eagerly waiting there to participate in this spiritually uplifting religious congregation and put under house arrest. There was no immediate response from LG administration to the claim. The LG is the incharge of law and order in J&K.
