Chandigarh, Aug. 2 -- Amritsar police have arrested a 21-year-old man and a hotel owner after a 14-year-old girl allegedly reported that she was sexually assaulted inside a hotel near the Golden Temple, officials said.
The case has drawn attention because the hotel allegedly provided a room without verifying the identity documents of either the girl or the man accompanying her. Police are now investigating how the accused brought the minor to the hotel and the circumstances under which she reached the location.
The incident came to light after the girl's family approached Sikh organisation members. Nihang leader Paramjit Singh Akali and his associates reached the hotel after receiving information and later informed the police.
