Mumbai, March 23 -- A political storm erupted in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Monday after Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Anil Parab alleged that a minister was assaulted by police during the Satara Zilla Parishad President election chaos last week.

Raising the issue, Parab questioned the government's ability to ensure public safety.

He remarked that if a minister could be beaten by police, it raises serious concerns about the security of ordinary citizens. He also took a swipe at ruling alliance leaders, accusing them of avoiding naming the BJP and compromising their self-respect for power.
