Mumbai, July 9 -- Nine people were arrested after the Mumbai Crime Branch busted an alleged milk adulteration racket operating from Dahisar East, where branded milk packets of Amul and Gokul were allegedly diluted with impure water and resealed before being sold in the market, police said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch's Detection Unit-12, along with officials of the Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), raided a room at Dube Chawl in Rajesh Compound, Dahisar East.
Police said the accused allegedly cut open sealed packets of Amul and Gokul milk, removed a portion of the milk, mixed impure water with the remaining contents, and resealed the packets using heat-sealing machines. The adulterated packets were the...
