Mumbai, March 29 -- Mumbai Indians finally broke their season's opening jinx with a commanding six-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders, chasing down a massive 221 with five balls to spare in a high-scoring encounter at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday night.

The chase was defined by a dominant opening stand of 148 between Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma, who tore into the KKR bowling attack from the outset and kept Mumbai Indians firmly ahead of the required rate throughout.
