Srinagar, July 3 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ladakhi leadership, represented by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), on Friday finalized the minutes of the fifth meeting of the Sub-Committee of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) on Ladakh, held earlier on May 22.
The minutes state that all participants unanimously agreed that although statehood would remain Ladakh's long-term aspiration, the immediate step would be the creation of a customized union Territory-level elected body vested with executive, financial and legislative powers.
