Mexico City, June 25 -- Mexico underlined their status as one of the form teams of the FIFA World Cup by defeating Czechia 3-0 to complete a perfect Group A campaign and secure top spot with maximum points at Estadio Banorte here on Thursday IST.
The co-hosts, who had already beaten South Africa and South Korea in their opening two matches, maintained their 100 percent record with another assured performance, while Czechia bowed out of the tournament with just one point from three outings.
Despite the final scoreline, Czechia began brightly and created the better opportunities in the first half. Matej Visinsky came closest to opening the scoring when he met a cross with a first-time effort, but his shot drifted just wide of the left post....
