Kolkata, June 6 -- union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw chose an unconventional route to reach the West Bengal secretariat Nabanna on Saturday, turning what was expected to be a routine official visit into a journey that drew considerable public attention.
The unusual journey by Vaishnaw echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's earlier decision to travel by Kolkata Metro during one of his visits to the city.
Vaishnaw arrived here for a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and senior state officials, but instead of heading directly to the state secretariat in a convoy, he opted to experience the city's public transport system firsthand.
