Dimapur, Sept. 26 -- The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Dimapur found the presence of methanol in the samples of seized alcohol sent by the Tuensang police following the deaths of nine people suspected to be linked to the consumption of spurious liquor in Tuensang district earlier this month.
According to a release issued by Tuensang additional SP, the FSL in its report, submitted on September 24, said the exhibits tested positive for the presence of methanol (methyl alcohol) qualitatively.
The laboratory in Dimapur also stated that quantitative estimation of methanol could not be carried out due to non-availability of the required instruments.
