Chennai, Aug. 20 -- Karnataka Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar on Thursday said the proposed Mekedatu dam across River Cauvery was for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry only and not for his state.
In a brief interaction with the media after the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting chaired by union Home Minister Amit Shah at Mahabalipuram, about 55 km from here, Shivakumar, who spoke about the Cauvery and Mekedatu issues at length in the meeting, said except for five TMC water for our drinking water needs, the rest of the water to be stored in the Mekedatu dam, which was planned to store 67 tmc, was only for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
