Chennai, July 31 -- Ahead of his proposed August three talks with his Karnataka counterpart DK Shivakumar at Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay held a high-level meeting with senior officials on Friday on Mekedatu dam issue, amid escalating tensions between the two neighbours over sharing of Cauvery river waters.
The meeting, an attempt to find a negotiated settlement to the vexed and emotive issue, was unlikely on August three as Shivakumar appealed to Vijay not to come to Bengaluru for the talks in view of the tense situation prevailing in Karnataka, especially after the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) yesterday upholding Cauvery Water Regulatory Authority's (CWRA) order directing Karnataka it to release 3,500 cusecs of...
