Bengaluru, June 22 -- Turning the spotlight on Karnataka's political representation in New Delhi amid the renewed Mekedatu debate, union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Monday questioned what Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had done in Parliament to secure the state's water interests, while simultaneously urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and resolve long-pending inter-state river disputes.

Speaking to reporters here, Kumaraswamy said the Mekedatu balancing reservoir project had been repeatedly pursued by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda through representations to successive Prime Ministers, but continued to remain stalled due to opposition from Tamil Nadu.
