Srinagar, Aug. 17 -- Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday described herself as a "dimaagi Naxal" after union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said those supporting Article 370 could fall within the description used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech.

Mehbooba's remarks came after Rijiju clarified that Prime Minister Modi had not referred to opposition leaders as "dimaagi Naxals".

In a post on X, Rijiju said the term should instead be used for those who support Maoists while rejecting the Indian Constitution, back separatists and Article 370, or advocate the separation of the northeastern region from the rest of the country.
