Shillong, June 10 -- The Meghalaya government has decided to suspend all official foreign visits by ministers, MLAs and officials for six months as part of a broader expenditure rationalisation and austerity initiative, an official said on Wednesday.

According to a notification issued by State Personnel & A.R. (A) Department, the governor has ordered that all official foreign visits of ministers, MLAs and officials (permanent or contractual) of the state government shall be kept on hold for a period of six months.

The order will cover all foreign visits that are to be borne by the State government.
