Shillong, Feb. 24 -- Meghalaya has only four anaesthesiologists, Health and Family Welfare minister, Wailadmiki Shylla said on Tuesday, even as he informed that the government would soon recruit specialist doctors on a contractual basis.
"There is a shortage of doctors, especially in terms of specialists, in the whole State. At present, we have only four anaesthesiologists, which is very less," Shylla told the assembly during the Question Hour.
However, the minister informed the assembly that the Finance department has sanctioned funds for the recruitment of doctors on a contractual basis.
