Shillong, Sept. 11 -- The Meghalaya government has informed the High Court that 28 foreign nationals remain imprisoned across the state despite completing their jail terms.
However, the state government assured the court that it will identify detention or holding centres to house these prisoners within a week.
The state government maintained that Meghalaya lacked dedicated detention centres to house these foreign nationals before deportation, leaving them confined to standard prisons.
