Shillong, April 21 -- Meghalaya's Green Tech Foundation ended its 12-day hunger strike on Monday after the state government excluded Lumpongdeng Island in Umiam Lake from the Rs 330-crore Taj Umiam Luxury Resort and Spa project.
"We called off our indefinite hunger strike on Monday night after the government informed us in writing that Lumpongdeng island will be excluded from the proposed Taj Umiam Luxury Resort and Spa project," Ritre Lyngdoh, the Secretary General of GTF, told UNI on Tuesday.
The foundation also thanked the government for ceded to their core demand to exclude the project from the island.
