Shillong, May 1 -- Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said that Meghalaya is one of the states that gives the highest rate for unskilled labour.
"Meghalaya is giving Rs 525 per day for unskilled labour, making it the third state in the country to give the highest rates for unskilled labour after Karnataka and Goa," he said, while addressing the International Workers' Day.
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the state government's commitment to worker welfare while launching a series of labour-focused initiatives.
With the implementation of Rs 2,900 crore of projects besides infrastructural growth, Sangma said labourers and workers are directly benefitting from these projects ensuring that economic growth translates into job creation....
