Shillong, Aug. 20 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday spoke with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma over the violence during the Khasi Students' union (KSU) black-flag bike rally in Shillong and its fallout on interstate commuters.
The telephonic conversation between the two Chief Ministers follows protests and blockades staged by Assam-based commercial vehicle drivers and transport associations at entry pointsalong the interstate border, including Khanapara and Jorabat. Several reports of stoning against Meghalaya vehicles in Guwahati.
Taking to X, Chief Minister Sangma said the two states had agreed to work together to normalise the situation and protect the longstanding ties between their people.
