Shillong, Aug. 31 -- The United Democratic Party (UDP), the biggest regional political outfit in Meghalaya has denied reports in some sections of the media that nine out of its 12 legislators were raring to desert the party and join ranks with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh said that all 12 party MLAs were intact and currently in Meghalaya, amid reports that some of them were in Kolkata and some in Guwahati to formalise their joining the saffron party.

"I have met all the legislators and asked them, and none of them said they are joining BJP. I heard this only from the media. There is no problem in UDP as of now," Lyngdoh told reporters on Monday.
