Shillong, July 31 -- The environmental public hearing for Shree Cement's Rs. 1,800 crore integrated cement plant and limestone mining project in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district was held on Friday, amid allegations that police prevented landowners and farmers from attending the statutory consultation meet.
The public hearing, conducted by the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) and chaired by Alertson Nongbri, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of East Jaintia Hills district, was held at Lum Syrman under Elaka Nongkhlieh. It began at 8 AM and concluded after 46 minutes.
