Shillong, May 30 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his Assam counterpart Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday decided to expedite the ongoing demarcation process of the interstate boundary between the two neighbouring states towards resolution of the vexed issue.

Sangma, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, and Commissioner and Secretary Cyril Diengdoh, met Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Assam's capital, Dispur.

The meeting is significant in the backdrop of a recent volatile situation at the disputed Lapangap village in Meghalaya's West Jaintia Hills district, bordering Assam's West Karbi Anglong district.
