Mumbai, Aug. 4 -- Setting the stage for a major political showdown, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has launched a scathing attack on the state government and the BJP, accusing them of orchestrating a "land grab" in Mumbai.
At the center of the controversy is the decision to lease a sprawling 16-acre plot, including public sports grounds, to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), a move that has drawn strong criticism from opposition parties.
The political dispute erupted after the state government approved a long-term lease of approximately 16 acres near the MMRDA grounds in Bandra East to the MCA for the construction of an international-standard cricket stadium.
