Lucknow, Aug. 23 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the growing demand for reservation based on economic criteria.

She said the recent gathering at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to protest against the reservation provided to SC, ST and OBC communities under the Constitution and demand economic-based reservation was inappropriate and not in the national interest.

In a post on X on Sunday, Mayawati said people should refrain from taking any action on reservation that could undermine constitutional efforts to build an egalitarian, developed and dignified nation.
