Manoj BhadraLucknow, May 20 -- As the crucial assembly elections get closer, political activities have commenced in Uttar Pradesh for new pre-poll alliances.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has already said a couple of times that his party will continue its alliance with Congress as it did in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, when the alliance won 43 seats out of a total of 80.
However, in a major reversal, now the Congress is showing interest in joining hands with Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP) for the assembly polls.
A report said here on Wednesday said that Congress leaders are trying to contact BSP leadership to initiate the discussion.
