Dharamshala, May 16 -- A large number of candidates have been elected unopposed to various posts in the Panchayati Raj Institutions elections in Kangra district, with the highest number recorded for Gram Panchayat Ward Member seats.
Assistant Returning Officer (Panchayat) Sachin Thakur said that a total of 1,680 candidates were elected unopposed across different development blocks of the district for the posts of Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Ward Member and Panchayat Samiti Member.
However, no candidate was elected unopposed for the post of Zila Parishad Member.
He said 10 candidates were elected unopposed for the post of Pradhan, while eight candidates secured unopposed victories for the post of Up-Pradhan.
