Budapest, May 11 -- Emmy-nominated actor Matt Bomer has joined the second season of espionage thriller "The Day of the Jackal", taking on a recurring role opposite Eddie Redmayne.

Although the makers have kept his character details under wraps, Bomer is reportedly set to play a key antagonist in the new season. Production has started in Budapest, Bomer joins fellow new cast additions Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber, who had been cast as series regulars, reports DEADLINE.

Based on the Frederick Forsyth novel and the 1973 film adaptation from Universal, The Day of the Jackal follows an unrivalled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal (Redmayne), who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee.
