Mumbai, April 24 -- : In a significant move aimed at improving passenger-driver communication, a meeting was held in the presence of Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, along with experts, literary figures, and administrative officials. The meeting focused on implementing the decision to make Marathi language usage mandatory for auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers from Maharashtra Day.

During the discussion, literary representatives suggested that drivers should at least be able to speak 10 basic sentences in Marathi. The proposal aims to address communication issues faced by passengers due to the inability of many non-Marathi drivers to converse in the local language.
