New Delhi, July 1 -- India's manufacturing sector growth slowed to a three-month low in June as softer international demand weighed on new orders, output, hiring and purchasing activity, even though the sector remained firmly in expansion territory, a private survey showed on Wednesday.
The HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), compiled by S&P Global, eased to 54.2 in June from 55.0 in May. The reading was also below the flash estimate of 54.5 released last month.
A PMI reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a print below that level signals contraction. June marked the 56th consecutive month of expansion in India's manufacturing activity.
